Large Louis XVI Style Console Table After Georges Jacob
A large and narrow Louis XVI style console table in giltwood, very finely carved with rosettes and egg-and-dart motifs, the openwork frieze carved with rosettes and rows of pearls. The four twisted legs are surmounted by Ionic capitals.
Based on the pair of consoles delivered by Georges Jacob for Marie Antoinette, later placed in the grand salon of Empress Eugénie at Saint-Cloud. One console is conserved at the Mobilier National (inventory number MM6422), formerly in the Louvre Museum.
Good overall condition, slight wear to the gilding, some losses to the garlands on the capitals, superficial marks on the marble tops.
