Renaissance-style notary's cabinet in solid walnut – 19th century. An imposing Renaissance-style notary's cabinet, crafted in solid walnut in the 19th century, boasts a monumental and richly decorated design. The front opens with six molded doors surmounted by three drawers in the frieze, each fitted with a pull ring. The upper section is structured around a central niche, framed by columns adorned with sculpted capitals, lending the piece a very elegant architectural appearance. The molded and sculpted panels, as well as the decorated uprights, attest to the exceptional quality of the joinery and cabinetmaking. The sides are also molded and decorated, a sign of a piece of furniture made with great care. The whole piece rests on an overhanging plinth, reinforcing its solid character and decorative presence. This type of furniture was intended for storing archives and registers in notary offices, hence its traditional name, "notary's cabinet."
