Biography: Victor De Groux, also known as Degroux Victor, was born in 1895 in Brussels, Belgium. He was a skilled Belgian painter, celebrated for his depictions of landscapes, townscapes, old rural buildings, forests, and riverside scenes.

His art elegantly captured the tranquility of wooded areas, the meandering charm of rivers in the Brabant and Ardennes regions, and the timeless allure of historical towns in Flanders and Wallonia.

De Groux received his artistic education at the Brussels Academy of Fine Arts under the tutelage of Constant Montald and Louis Clesse. Notably, he carried the artistic lineage of being the grand-nephew of the French genre painter Charles de Groux.

His artistic style harmoniously merged influences from the French Barbizon School and the works of landscape painter Hippolyte Emmanuel Boulenger. Additionally, he drew inspiration from eminent Belgian landscape painters such as Baron Franciscus Eduardus Maria Courtens and Joseph Theodore Coosemans.

De Groux’s creative pursuits took him across borders to countries like the Netherlands, Germany, Spain, France, and even the Dutch East Indies (Indonesia).

He bid adieu to the world in 1973 in Ixelles. Today, his artistic legacy finds its esteemed place in both private and public collections. Noteworthy institutions like the Brussels Ixelles Museum, Charlier-Museum, Museum in Elsene, and the M. K. Čiurlionis National Art Museum in Kaunas, Lithuania, proudly showcase his timeless works.
