Small Louis XV-Louis XVI Transition Commode with Six Drawers, Wood Marquetry, 18th Century. This small commode from the Louis XV-Louis XVI Transition period is a French work from the 18th century. It features six drawers on the front. The fronts are decorated with flame veneer framed by chevron marquetry stringing in various wood species. The sides are also veneered and framed with marquetry stringing, demonstrating meticulous craftsmanship. The drawers are fitted with turned knobs and brass keyhole escutcheons. It rests on four slightly cabriole legs joined by a shaped stretcher, characteristic of furniture from the transitional period between the Louis XV and Louis XVI styles.
