Pair Of Gilt Bronze Candelabra With Cupids, Early 19th Century Empire Period
A pair of finely chased and gilded bronze candelabra from the Empire period. Each candelabra rests on a circular column decorated with a lozenge pattern, surmounted by a standing winged Cupid holding his bow and arrows. The upper section features three richly decorated candle arms. The stem is adorned with drapery held by a medallion depicting a quiver, a bow, and crossed arrows, emblems of Cupid. The whole rests on a square base decorated with a frieze. French work from the early 19th century, of very high quality in its chasing, retaining its original gilding, with the matte and burnished areas polished with agate. In very good condition.
