1700 Edition. History Of The Condemnation Of The Templars And The Avignon Schism
Artist: Pierre Dupuy
The Treatise Concerning the History of France, namely the condemnation of the Templars with some related acts, the history of the schism during the siege of Avignon, and some criminal trials, is a work composed by Pierre Dupuy (1582-1651), an important French scholar and jurist. Close to President de Thou and Pierre de L'Estoile, he was commissioned by the Attorney General of the Parliament of Paris, Mathieu Molé, to inventory the archives, which brought him into contact with the valuable documents of major trials. He then wrote, among other works, this history of the condemnation of the Templars, followed by a catalog of the trial documents. As was often the case, other studies were added to make a substantial volume, such as the history of the Avignon schism and the trial of the Duke of Alençon. Bound in a simple parchment binding, with the title handwritten on the spine, it is in very good original condition, well-stitched and sturdy. In 12. 564 pages.
