A beautiful portrait of the Virgin Mary, in watercolor or gouache, her face surrounded by a golden halo, a blue veil on her head, and her robe red. The portrait is contained within an oval, itself framed by a thin border. The frame is decorated with large straw marquetry flowers in beige, pink, and white. All of this is mounted on white silk. The original carved frame is made of giltwood, retaining its original gilding. The back is covered with original blue paper. Original glass. France, Louis XIII period.
