Pair Of Aquatints Dedicated To Madame De Pompadour, Queen's Palace, "music And Painting"
Artist: Fessard/van Loo
A beautiful pair of large aquatint engravings dedicated to Madame de Pompadour, Lady of the Queen's Palace: "Painting and Music." These two exquisite depictions are presented in very fine period frames with turquoise-edged mats and black and gold fillets. This tribute to the Marquise, favorite of Louis XV, reflects the King's mistress's interest in the applied arts. A very beautiful, ornate Baroque cartouche bearing her famous coat of arms with three towers frames the two charming scenes where three young children practice their art. The beautiful colors enhance these touching scenes. The aged paper lends a magical quality to these delicate, detailed, and highly realistic depictions... All the charm of the 18th century in delicate subjects.
