A rare and elegant small traveling or carriage writing desk in rosewood veneer on a walnut ground; its back and base are in amaranth wood, as are the small boards that partition its chapel; the drop-front is inlaid with a Greek-style rosewood fillet framed in boxwood, and its interior has a compartment for storing papers under the leather-lined section of the top. Louis XVI period. Second half of the eighteenth century.
