Antique Chinese Export Blue & White Porcelain Sauce Boat, Qianlong Period 1750–1780 C18th

Antique Chinese export blue and white porcelain sauce boat dating to the Qianlong period, circa 1750–1780.

The piece is finely potted with an elegant scalloped rim and a pointed pouring lip, fitted with a simple loop handle. This European form was produced at Jingdezhen for the Western export market during the 18th century, reflecting the strong demand for Chinese porcelain in Europe.

The exterior is decorated in underglaze cobalt blue with floral and foliate motifs beneath a patterned border. The interior is also finely painted with flowering plants in a garden landscape composition framed by a decorative border.

The porcelain body has the slightly bluish glaze tone characteristic of Qianlong export wares. The base shows an unglazed oval foot with kiln residue typical of Jingdezhen production.

Length: 19.5 cm.
