Central Planter And Its Base In Cloisonné Enamel, Blackened Wood And Gilded Bronze
A rare jardinière and matching table in blackened wood, gilt bronze, and cloisonné enamel, Napoleon III style – early 20th century. An elegant decorative set comprising a jardinière and its matching table, executed in the style of luxurious Napoleon III state furniture. The table rests on a blackened wood base with four turned legs joined by an elegant, shaped stretcher centered with a gilt bronze finial. The apron is adorned with gilt bronze mascarons depicting rams' heads, while the legs terminate in gilt bronze claws, lending the whole a rich decorative quality. The richly ornamented jardinière is decorated on each side with polychrome cloisonné enamel panels featuring stylized scrolls and floral motifs, framed by gilt bronze mounts. It is also adorned with gilt bronze female heads forming appliqués, and surmounted by an openwork gallery of gilt brass. This piece is distinguished by the remarkable quality of its materials and workmanship, as well as its great rarity. Furniture of this type decorated with cloisonné enamels is extremely uncommon and difficult to find on the market. Another notable feature: it is a jardinière, entirely decorated on all sides, designed to be placed in the center of a room and admired from all angles, which further enhances its decorative appeal. A refined, decorative, and highly original ensemble, characteristic of the eclectic and opulent taste of the Napoleon III style.
