Viking bronze lamp, with traces of pure gold. Depiction of Odin with a feather cloak. On the underside, a new engraved depiction of Odin wrapped in the feather cloak. At the base, an undeciphered runic inscription. Lorraine, 9th-11th century. This fantastic object demonstrates the great sculptural mastery of Viking artists during the Middle Ages. Original object, missing the upper handle. In the 19th century, several copies of this type of lamp were made.
