Bakery Grid, Maison échalié & Biabaud – Circa 1900
Artist: échalié & Biabaud
A rare wrought iron bakery gate attributed to the renowned firm Échalié & Biabaud, active at the end of the 19th century and known for the quality of its furniture and shop fittings. A very fine example of period ironwork, it features an elegant decoration of scrolls, spirals, and sinuous lines characteristic of the emerging Art Nouveau style. The openwork crescent-shaped shelves and richly crafted uprights testify to true artisanal skill. It boasts a beautiful, even, antique patina that respects the piece's authenticity. Originally intended for displaying bread and pastries, this gate would now find its place in: – a bakery or a shop with character – a kitchen or dining room with authentic décor – an industrial or country chic interior – a high-end display, shop window, or decorative project
