Cardboard Box By Victor Rogister
Artist: Victor Rogister (1874-1955)
Cardboard box by Victor Rogister, stained oak, copper hardware. Victor Rogister's style is recognisable by the heart-shaped and half-sphere decorations. The cardboard box is in need of restoration and the cardboards are missing.
Victor Rogister (1874-1955), Belgian architect of the Art Nouveau period.
Trained at the Academy of Fine Arts in Liège, then collaborated with the architects Charles Etienne Soubre and Paul Jaspar, Victor Rogister built mainly in Liège. Victor Rogister's work is in line with the "floral Art Nouveau" trend initiated by Victor Horta in Brussels (as opposed to the "geometric Art Nouveau" trend initiated by Paul Hankar). However, two of his works (the Maison Counet and the Maison Lapaille) were built in a style more closely related to the Vienna Secession. Rogister's best-known work is the Maison Piot or House of the Freemasons at 17 rue de Sélys in Liège.
