English Art Nouveau Architect's Furniture With Floral Marquetry, Circa 1905
An architect's cabinet in wood and marquetry. The upper section is adorned with a carved façade of stylized flowers, fruit, and triangles, recessed with three panels bordered by moldings simulating doors. The marquetry decoration, in burr, boxwood, light wood, and green-stained wood, depicts a landscape and vases of flowers within cartouches. It is flanked on either side by a side door revealing four compartments. The lower section opens with two molded doors adorned with moldings and decorated with stylized plant motifs. The lock escutcheons are in ornate brass (with two keys). English work from the second half of the 19th century, Arts and Crafts period. Height: 169 cm - Width: 132 cm - Depth: 53 cm.
