French Primitive Antique Barrel
Beautiful small barrel carved from a single piece of elm trunk, a traditional tool used on fields.
It was held with two fingers for drinking upside down, or a rope could be passed through it for water, brandy, or wine.
It has iron reinforcements one ach side.
In good condition, with an old wooden stopper and two holes or cracks that were once plugged (see photo).
This is a beautiful piece of peasant art from 18th or 19th century.
