Stefano Novo 1862-1927 Oil on canvas Signed lower left Dimensions: 60 x 40 cm unframed and 70 x 50 cm Gilt wood frame The painter invites us to admire the beauty of St. Mark's Square and its unique architecture. Stefano Novo enrolled at the Venice Academy of Fine Arts, where he studied under Pompeo Molmenti. He began his career working in various churches in the Venetian region and Padua, creating numerous frescoes. Easel painting then took over, and he favored lively and colorful street scenes. He gained recognition at the Turin Exhibition of 1884, and subsequently participated in other exhibitions in Florence, Bologna, Milan, Palermo, and Venice, where he was present at the National Exhibition of 1887. His reputation spread to the United States and England, where he exhibited in Chicago, London, and Glasgow.
