Henin&vivier - Solid Silver And Vermeil Ice Cream Service For 12 Guests
A solid silver and vermeil ice cream service comprising twelve spoons and their matching scoop, executed with great elegance and enriched with sumptuous engraving, playing on the contrast between gold and silver. The rocaille decoration unfolds with breadth and movement; asymmetrical spatulas with soft lines, spoons with spring ornamentation, flowers and leafy scrolls. The reverses are plain, the decorations of the spatulas attractively extending onto the backs of the spoons. Each piece is stamped with the hallmark of the silversmiths Hénin & Vivier (H&V, a rosebud) as well as the French guarantee mark, Minerva head 1st standard. Minor scratches from normal use, bright and homogeneous vermeil, in excellent condition; A high-quality set presented in a charming case, the lid and rim decorated with friezes of rosettes and florets, gilded with a delicate tool. The interior, lined with green velvet, displays the service in a fan shape, presented in a case by the SERVAN firm in Bordeaux. A dessert set for twelve guests and its serving utensils, highlighting the excellence of craftsmanship and the refinement of 19th-century French silversmithing. Spoon length: 12.8 cm / 5.04 in. Serving spoon length: 26.4 cm / 10.39 in. Total weight of sterling silver: 294 g.
