19th Century Antique French Copper Saucepan By Gaillard, Paris

This antique French copper saucepan is stamped “Gaillard Paris,” the final letter slightly softened by age and polishing. The mark is hand-engraved into the copper body, positioned near the upper rim.

The saucepan has a straight-sided cylindrical form with a slightly rolled lip. The copper is of substantial gauge and displays a rich, warm patina with visible hand-polishing marks, small surface scratches, darker oxidation spots, and areas of tonal variation typical of authentic professional use. The base is flat and shows circular cleaning traces consistent with years of contact on a stovetop.

The interior is tinned, now aged and darkened, with visible wear and discoloration from use. The handle is forged iron, gently curved, and secured with three copper rivets on a shield-shaped mounting plate. The handle terminates in an elongated oval hanging hole, designed for suspension on a traditional kitchen rack.
