Olynthe Madrigali, born in 1887, carried the light of the Mediterranean within him as others carry a heritage. Trained by Paul Saïn but guided above all by his own vision, he crafted a style of painting where the sea, ports, and sun-drenched villages become almost intimate confidences. After the hardships of the Great War, he found renewed inspiration in Algeria, observing Algiers from the docks where he worked, capturing on his canvases the shifting blues, the white facades, and the shadows that glide across the city. A curious traveler, he ventured as far as Syria, then always returned to Corsica, his native land, which he painted with a profound tenderness. Madrigali passed away in 1950, leaving behind a discreet yet vibrant body of work, like a travel journal where each landscape recounts a fragment of his life.
