A large oil on canvas painting by Jean Albert de Roover
Albert de Roover was born in Boom 1892 and passed away in Borgerhout Belgium 1978
He was educated at the academy of Antwerp and later the higher institute of fine arts in Antwerp and later he was the director of the academy in Temse Belgium from 1924 to 1957
He was the older brother of Carlo de Roover which was also a painter
He started his career with expressionistic images of stone factories and its workers, and his favorite genres where flowers, landscapes and portraits and later after WW2 he was working more in a abstract way and non-realistic colour palette
This painting represents a nice collection of objects that you could find in an artists home, from ceramics antique textiles artworks and a lovely vase filled with withered sunflowers painted very realistic
Dating to the midcentury, 1944 and signed by the artist on the right below
This is a very large painting for this artist and comes with its original guilded frame
The work is in excellent condition
There are various works in the Museum of fine arts in Antwerp, the museum of St Niklaas and the Municipal museum of Temse
