Kakudji Statue, Kusu People, Drc
An ancestral cult statue known as a "Kakudji." It represents a male bust. The arms are detached from the body, while the forearms and hands rest against the abdomen, encircling the navel. The delicate face is adorned with a beard. The complex hairstyle is styled in three parts: two small chevron-patterned bands above the ears, a wide chevron-patterned band at the back, and two small buns beneath this band. This aesthetically remarkable statue has retained its magical power at the top and the red fabric covering it.
