"Yoruba Rider, Benin Or Nigeria"
Statue representing a character riding a horse. He carries a rifle in one hand and in the other he holds the reindeer and a fly swatter which also rests on his shoulder. The posture is upright and proud. He represents, through his attributes, an ancestral figure of a high dignitary or king. The horse was rare and reserved for the nobility or the sovereign. The equine is equipped with stirrups, a saddle and its harnessing equipment. This type of statue was intended to be on an altar.
