Louis XVI Period Half-moon Bouillotte Table
A rare and genuine bouillotte table, half-moon shaped, made of mahogany and mahogany veneer, which opens to reveal an (antique) leather cover. The central section has a hole for placing a ring inside which the famous bouillotte lamp is inserted! Bouillotte is a famous card game based on three-of-a-kind, very popular during the French Revolution. A similar table to ours can be seen in an engraving by Jean François Bosio, "La Partie de Bouillotte." This is a rare document; indeed, the round model with a marble top and gallery is more common. The table presented here is in beautiful condition, with a French polish finish.
