French Writing Set With Clock

A very exceptional French writing set. This travel clock, complete with an inkwell and sand pot, sits on a wooden base with tortoiseshell and brass veneer and gilt ornaments. The clock displays the day and date, is signed Moser in Paris, number 9482, and has a striking mechanism with a one-week power reserve. Moser produced several of these writing sets, but they were generally made to order, as no identical pieces have been found. The base measures 38 cm wide and 27 cm deep, and the clock is 24 cm high.
