A rectangular travel chest veneered on all sides with amaranth and brass plates. It is framed around the perimeter by very thick brass corner plates, these brass plates dividing twenty-four amaranth compartments. It has two side handles. The keyhole escutcheon and decorative motifs on the back are finely cut brass. It is complete with its lock and latches; the key is a later addition. The chest is constructed of oak, the interior lined with amaranth. A beautiful Louis XIV period piece in perfect condition.
