A pair of Piedmontese corner cabinets with an elongated and asymmetrical structure, entirely lacquered in a yellow-ochre tone and enriched with elaborate polychrome painted decoration of floral and ornithological motifs. The central doors display lively naturalistic scenes with brightly colored birds among blossoming branches and stylized landscapes, framed by scrolling borders and garlands of flowers. The upper section is defined by a shaped and tapered outline, with open shelves also adorned with painted vegetal motifs. The lower part, supported by tall arched legs ending in goat’s feet of quadrangular section, features a small open compartment framed with further lacquered floral motifs.
A refined work of the Turin tradition of the mid-18th century, with a clear Orientalizing influence in the painted scenes, reflecting the Rococo taste for vivid polychromy and decorative lightness.
