Giuseppe Vasi Views Of Rome And Venice Set Of Two Antique Italian Etchings From 1757
Artist: Giuseppe Vasi (1710-1782)
Two Italian views, two of Rome, of the Palazzo Sacchetti on Strada Giulia, and one view of Venice, of Palazzo San Marco, drawn and engraved by Giuseppe Vasi (1710-1782) in the second half of the 1700s, who was one of the most important engravers of views in 18th-century Rome and also Piranesi's teacher. The two views are taken from the monumental work: Delle magnificenze di Roma antica e moderna (The Magnificence of Ancient and Modern Rome), published in 10 volumes from 1747 to 1761, consisting of 23 copper engravings with narrative text providing historical and documentary information. The two views are etched on laid paper and in good condition.
