France, circa 1550. Decorative panel with a central medallion (a profile portrait), zoomorphic arabesques, griffins at the bottom, and grotesques.
Carved oak in bas-relief, on two joined panels (or one large split panel?), with a vertical joint/split in the middle.
Probably came from a piece of furniture.
Good condition.
43.5 x 36.5 cm panel,
50 x 42.5 cm frame.
