"Majorelle Furniture, Stamped, 20th Century."
Majorelle furniture, stamped, 20th century. Louis-Jean-Sylvestre Majorelle, son of Auguste Majorelle, a furniture designer and maker, showed an interest in art and design from a young age. In 1861, his family moved to Nancy, where he continued his studies. In 1877, he enrolled at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris, where he studied under the painter Aimé Millet. However, upon his father's death in 1879, he abandoned his studies to take over the family business, which specialized in the manufacture of furniture and earthenware.
