Large Empire Planter - Jaget Et Pinon Tours - Imperial Green - Circa 1890/1900
Large and prestigious jardinière in high-fired earthenware, produced by the renowned Tours-based manufacturer Jaget et Pinon (1890-1919).
This masterpiece is distinguished by its "Eagles and Bees" decoration, the most prestigious and sought-after iconography of Touraine production.
Color & Glaze: The Empire green glaze of exceptional depth, achieved through high-fire firing, offers a striking contrast with the gilding.
Ornamentation: Rich decoration in fine gold composed of two facing Imperial Eagles and a scattering of Napoleonic bees.
Side Pieces: The handles, with their sculpted relief, depict oak branches laden with acorns, emblems of strength and longevity, entirely highlighted in gold.
Frieze: The neck is encircled by a frieze of neoclassical scrolls and palmettes on a dark green band.
In perfect condition. Highly glossy glaze. The gilding shows slight wear consistent with age and use on the raised areas.
