Marko Stupar, born in Bosnia in 1936, grew up in a context marked by war and precarious living conditions.
From an early age, he took refuge in drawing, sketching in his notebook the landscapes of the regions he travelled through.
Later, he became an engineer in a machine-tool factory, while attending evening classes at the Belgrade School of Fine Arts.
At the same time, he enriched his artistic eye by regularly visiting the capital's museums, where he developed a passion for Impressionist masters such as Monet, Renoir and Pissarro.
At the age of 28, he chose to settle in Paris, the city that has always nurtured his imagination.
Fascinated, he explored the Grand Boulevards for the first time, strolled through the gardens and developed a passion for depicting urban landscapes.
He took his first steps as an artist on the Place du Tertre, under a pseudonym.
His talent soon attracted attention, leading to exhibitions.
The start of a major international career.
He has received numerous awards, including the Grand Prix of the Taylor Foundation in 2006, and his work has been exhibited in museums in Bosnia, France and the United States.
