Small crystal statuette or paperweight depicting a young nude woman, "Floréal" model, signed Lalique* France, 20th century. This statuette is in good condition and signed on the side. The "Floréal" model, created in 1928, was the stopper for the large bottle no. 1 of the "Myosotis" toilet set, made of pressed molded white glass. It was marketed as a paperweight in 1942, continued in 1947, and relaunched after 1951. (See the Lalique catalogue raisonné by Marcilhac). René Jules Lalique (1860-1945) was a French master glassmaker and jeweler, founder of the House of Lalique. He became famous for his stunning creations of jewelry, then perfume bottles, vases, chandeliers, clocks, and, at the end of his life, car cabochons. The company he founded still operates and continues to create numerous high-quality pieces, contributing to its worldwide renown. The name Lalique has remained associated with creativity and quality, because it has always known how to design sumptuous yet discreet objects.
