"Okimono In Ivory, Depicting A Fisherman And His Net"
Ivory OKIMONO, Depicting a Fisherman and his Net, Japan, early 20th century, Meiji Period (1868-1912). The fisherman is busy with his finely carved net, his mature face with a contemplative expression turned towards the sky. He is presented on a carved black base, probably added later. The ivory is cracked at the base. Height of ivory: 17 cm. Height with base: 19 cm.
