Monochrome red decoration on a white background depicting the Foo Lions or Buddhist Lions (also known as Foo Dogs). The large lion is surrounded by its cubs, a scene symbolizing the protection of the home and offspring. On the reverse of the vases, there is a long poetic text in Chinese characters. Late Qing Dynasty, turn of the 20th century. On display at the Galerie Courcelles Antiquités, 41 rue de Courcelles, in the 17th arrondissement of Paris.
