"Hand-knotted Silk Goum Rug - Iran, 150x100 Cm"
A superb Persian "Goum" workshop rug, entirely hand-knotted in silk, featuring a refined Ottoman-inspired design. The ivory field is adorned with a symmetrical floral pattern composed of stylized palmettes, boteh, and florets arranged with exquisite craftsmanship. The wide brick-red border with floral scrolls harmoniously frames the composition and enhances the overall decorative elegance. The exceptionally high knot density, visible on both the front and back, testifies to superior craftsmanship. The fine, slightly lustrous threads confirm the use of silk, giving the rug a beautiful luminosity and highly precise design. This type of production originated in workshops specializing in the manufacture of high-end rugs for export in the second half of the 20th century, drawing inspiration from classic imperial designs of the Ottoman tradition.
