Large Empire/Restoration Style Mahogany and Gilt Bronze Mirror – 19th Century. Superb antique Empire/Restoration style mirror, veneered in flame mahogany, richly adorned with finely chased gilt bronze mounts. French work from the 19th century. Description: This architectural mirror is distinguished by its structure of detached columns framing the glass, surmounted by a triangular pediment decorated with an elegant bronze motif of stylized foliage. The gilt bronze decorative elements include: Central rosettes; Palmette and stylized leaf motifs; Symmetrical friezes with neoclassical decoration; Cylindrical columns with chased bronze rings; Winged figures/antique figures applied to the lower uprights; Central rosette ornament at the level of the lower rail. The mahogany displays a very fine herringbone and butterfly wing grain, typical of Empire furniture. 19th Century Period, Empire/Restoration Style. Materials: Mahogany, Gilt Bronzes, Antique Glass (shows some signs of age). Condition: Good overall condition for its age. Note: Signs of use and minor wear to the veneer.
