Adam And Eve - Offering Dish - Circa 1500
Repoussé and hallmarked brass decoration of Adam and Eve surrounded by scrolling foliage, with a frieze of fleur-de-lis and leaves on the rim. The words engraved on the frieze, in Old German, correspond to a biblical verse: "Gott der Herr machte Adam und Eva Kleider von Fellen und zog sie an. Gen. 3" for "God the Lord made garments of skin for Adam and Eve and clothed them. Genesis 3." A work from southern Germany, Nuremberg region, circa 1500.
