Bronze Pendant Sculpture By Bulgarian Artist Nicolas Manev
Artist: Nicolas Manev (1940-2018)
A small bronze sculpture, suitable as a pendant, by the Bulgarian artist Nicolas Manev, born in Bulgaria in 1940. Enrolled at the Sofia Academy of Fine Arts and then, in 1962, at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris, Manev is a great traveler, journeying the world in search of natural wonders such as the desert expanses of the Sahara and the dunes of the North Sea. Cities also inspire him and nourish his work. His pictorial language oscillates between abstraction and figuration, and his work, encompassing numerous oil paintings, watercolors, lithographs, and tapestries, is represented in the collections of over 30 countries, comprising some 3,000 works. This small bronze sculpture is highly textured, with a beautiful brown-antique gold patina. It is in the style of the artist's abstract works and in that of the pictorial research of the 70s-80s. It may have been designed as a pendant despite its weight (nearly 300 grams). This work comes directly from the artist's studio, purchased in the 80s-90s.
