Armand Gross – Pair Of Crystal And Sterling Silver Ewers, Late 19th Century
The neck is accentuated by a silver twisted ring. The upper mount is decorated with repoussé and chased scrolls, palmettes, and dangling drops in a Neo-Rococo style. The spout is formed in a slender, mirror-polished volute, and the hinged lid is surmounted by a molded baluster finial.
The handle, with its serpentine profile, is adorned with fluting, stylized leaves, and scrolls, terminating in a lower volute. The circular foot is decorated with a chased frieze of foliage and florets, framed by concentric moldings.
A characteristic example of fine silversmithing, combining engraved floral decoration on the crystal with rich chasing on the silver mount.
