A set of fourteen polychrome carved wooden religious statuettes, Spain and Latin America, 18th–19th centuries. This lot comprises devotional figures representing various saints, biblical figures, and ecclesiastical figures. Each subject is sculpted in the round, with expressive rendering of faces and drapery. The original polychromy, in shades of red, blue, green, and ochre, displays a natural patina as well as wear and chips consistent with age and use. Some sculptures reflect Iberian folk art, while others evoke the Hispanic-American tradition from colonial workshops, characterized by high expressiveness and rich colors. A fine and coherent collection of devotional religious art, suitable for display as a group or individually. In used condition with possible alterations, losses, and previous restorations.
