"Small Bronze Sculpture Of A Renaissance Man Drinking By Alfred Barye, 19th Century"
Bronze sculpture of a man drinking. Beautiful bronze patina, brown like a medal. On a circular brass base. His shirt is adorned with a lion, and his trousers with a coat of arms. He carries a short sword. Perhaps a character from a comedy. Work by Alfred Barye, son and pupil of Antoine Louis Barye (1795-1875). Exhibited at the Salon from 1864 to 1882. Signed A. Barye on the base. Antique 19th-century casting.
