Terracotta Bust - The Florentine Woman - after Pigalle (20th century) Terracotta bust of the Florentine woman known as "The Laughing Woman" after the sculptor Jean-Baptiste Pigalle. 20th century. Numbered 8/522. Jean-Baptiste Pigalle was one of the most important sculptors of the 18th century in France. He created numerous sculptures for prominent figures of the time, including King Louis XV. The Florentine Woman is one of his most famous works and was created as a tribute to the beauty of women. The sculpture is a symbol of classical French art, characterized by a pursuit of harmony and perfection in form. On display at the Galerie Courcelles Antiquités, 97 rue de Courcelles, in the 17th arrondissement of Paris.
