Clément Massier (1844–1917) Decorative Iridescent Earthenware Plaque – Art Nouveau, Golfe-Juan, circa 1895–1905. Superb decorative earthenware plaque with iridescent decoration depicting a female profile in the Art Nouveau style, with soft and elegant lines, typical of Clément Massier's work. The glaze displays magnificent metallic iridescence with golden, copper, and pearly hues, particularly well preserved. The modeling of the face and the treatment of the hair testify to the great technical mastery of the Massier workshop during this period. On the back, the incised signature “Clément Massier – Golfe-Juan (AM)”, the workshop's official mark, is perfectly legible. It also bears the signature in stylus. The original hanging system is preserved.
