Bert Stern, a photographer for Vogue, met Marilyn Monroe in late June 1962 at the Hotel Bel-Air in Los Angeles for a twelve-hour pose. Twenty years later, in 1982, Stern published a commemorative book including many photographs, including those rejected by the actress: the contact sheets. The photographs have been shown in numerous exhibitions worldwide.
