"José Abad (1942-2025) - Necklace - Bronze Sculpture"
- Handcrafted cast iron. Unique piece. Signed and dated, Abad 70. - José Abad (1942-2025) established himself as a major figure in contemporary Spanish sculpture. With a multidisciplinary background, he began with drawing, encouraged by his family, before joining Martín Chirino's workshop in Madrid. Recognized for his mastery of iron and his monumental works inspired by Expressionism and Baroque, his talent for transmuting volumes found an exquisitely precise echo in goldsmithing. His jewelry, conceived as "minimal sculptures" or adornments, is not simply decorative accessory, but an extension of his artistic language where the rigor of form meets the nobility of the materials. As a jeweler, Abad developed the "Jewelry Sculptures" series, composed of small pieces made primarily of gold, iron, and silver. In these creations, the artist expressed his passion for geometry and detail, masterfully setting precious stones such as emeralds, diamonds, lapis lazuli, and onyx. These jewels act as amulets that encapsulate his creative universe—from the pure lines of rationalism to the exuberance of Homage to the Baroque—demonstrating that for the genius of La Laguna, the power of a work resided not in its size, but in the intensity of its conception and the perfection of its technical execution.
