A large octagonal Satsuma gosu kōro modeled in the form of a lantern and raised on three feet.
The surface is decorated in the round across eight panels, each adorned with refined floral and naturalistic motifs, including flying cranes, magpies among irises, and perched pheasants.
The upper section features raised enamels in tones of green, black, blue, and orange, enriched with extensive use of gilt decoration.
The pierced lid is shaped in the form of a chrysanthemum.
The Shimazu mon is present beneath the base.
