"Large Art Deco Extendable Dining Table With Armchairs, Circa 1930"
An Art Deco dining set comprising a large oval extendable table and matching armchairs. The table features a walnut veneer top with a radiating "sunburst" pattern, highlighted by a stringing. It rests on a central pedestal with a faceted shaft, encircled by a metal ring, and finished with a cruciform base with metal glides. Thanks to its oval shape and central pedestal, the table maintains an elegant presence while remaining compact for everyday use, evoking the spirit of a grand Art Deco pedestal table, such as those found in the interiors of private mansions or luxury establishments of the 1930s. The model can, however, be transformed into a reception or meeting table with the addition of four extensions, bringing its total length to 4.20 m, allowing for the placement of the ten armchairs in the set. The armchairs, with wooden frames in the same wood and finish as the table, feature a clean and architectural geometric design. The slightly curved rectangular backrest and the wooden armrests with beveled corners echo the design of 1930s Art Deco furniture. The front legs are finished with circular metal glides, directly recalling the metal elements on the table's base. The seat and backrest are upholstered in a raspberry-colored velvet fabric with a crocodile-like pattern, providing a striking decorative contrast while maintaining the overall elegance. French work, circa 1930.
