Art Deco Coffee Table With 6 Chairs - Circa 1930

An important Art Deco dining set, made around 1930, comprising a rectangular table with a sculptural central pedestal and a set of six matching chairs, forming a particularly coherent ensemble in its design, materials, and proportions. The rectangular tabletop, with its gently softened corners, presents a taut and controlled line. It is veneered in an exotic wood with a contrasting linear grain, identified as Macassar ebony, an emblematic wood of prestigious Art Deco furniture. The tabletop is covered with a custom-made, perfectly fitted protective glass that accentuates the visual depth of the wood while ensuring its functionality. The finish is glossy, with a mirror-like effect, characteristic of high-end pieces from the interwar period. The table is designed to accommodate two extensions, thanks to two integrated slots at each end, invisible in the standard configuration. This feature allows for increased seating capacity without disrupting the formal balance or the architectural harmony of the set. The central base, the structural element of the composition, consists of two monumental arches forming an inverted cradle. This construction, both powerful and rigorously proportioned, frees up floor space while ensuring remarkable stability. The structure is punctuated with nickel-plated metal plates and elements, precisely integrated at the central junction and the base, highlighting the modernity of the design and creating a controlled contrast with the dark wood. The six chairs feature a high, slightly curved, fully upholstered back. The seat and back have been completely reupholstered in light-colored leather, offering a sharp contrast with the wooden frame. The saber-shaped rear legs and tapered front legs demonstrate a sober and balanced design, perfectly in keeping with the table. The entire set has undergone a complete restoration, including the refinishing of the high-gloss finish, the polishing of the metal elements, and the complete reupholstering of the leather chair seats. The condition is excellent, respecting the original materials and aesthetic.
