"Military Cavalry Helmet, Republican Guard, Republic, Music/trumpet, Uniform"
An antique cavalry helmet of the Paris Republican Guard, the so-called "Roman" model. This model was used for official ceremonies and parades during the Third Republic. The front band is richly decorated with the coat of arms of the City of Paris, featuring a ship sailing on the water, surmounted by fleurs-de-lis and a mural crown. It retains its black natural horsehair plume, as well as its removable red plume, characteristic of the cavalry and musical formations of the Republican Guard. The interior contains its original black leather liner with a riveted metal cross-bracing system, conforming to the regulations of the early 20th century. The helmet is in good overall condition.
